1997 : the origin of Gradient

Gradient began in 1997 as the brainchild of Ondrej Dupal.  Pilot and competitor of the first order he tested every model to the highest standards while refusing any compromise with regard to materials and components. To the opposite of traditional marketing philosophies he and his team developed technologies based on functional solutions, both dependable and efficient, in the name of pure aerodynamics. Very quickly, either in competition or flying for pleasure, the paragliding world became aware of the ‘feedback’ surrounding Gradient gliders.

A New Direction

In 2018, tired by his solitary path, Ondrej Dupal sold Gradient to another brand; Supair. Gradient lost some independence, but in return found a true means to true freedom.  Surrounded by a stronger team Gradient was reborn.  The values of Dupal -sincerity, skill, respect- were keystone to the new group. The qualities of vivacity, realism, and creativity were which inherent in the ‘Agility’ (winner of the Acro World Cup 2017, 2018, and 2019) were reinforced.  But if Gradient continued to be faithful to ‘the faithful’ the intention was always to go further…

Beyond Paragliding

With the dynamics of new disciplines like ‘Hike and Fly’ Gradient’s intentions were always directed at a clientele centered on nature sports, synonymous with the sensation of liberty; kite, trail, mountain-biking, alpinism, ski-touring, and alpine sports in general. For them and for all of us to who strive to discover this world, hoping to conquer geographic obstacles, Gradient wants to provide solutions which are dependable and give pleasure. Our inspiration is this, with a new generation of Gradient pilots like Thomas de Dorlodot who have become the source of new and ambitious projects and routes based on paragliding (cf. searchprojects.net).

With new means

But inspiration is nothing without the means to achieve it. With this in mind we recruited new team members to reinforce Gradient in what concerns customer service, communication and promotions, and commercial experts for our retail outlets in all markets…. For good measure we opened a new showroom and business base at Talloires on the Lac d’Annecy at one of the most popular flying sites on the planet! Our professional clients from all over the world come here to test fly the entire line of Gradient products and talk with the men and women of our brand.
